Mount Damavand is the highest peak of the Alborz ranges and the highest peak in Iran . It is a potentially active volcano , of stratovolcano type . Two important summits of Alborz ranges good for mountaineering are Damavand and Alam-kuh with a height of about 4,848 meters .
Starting from Tehran , Early in the morning head toward Reyne village and change the car , continue by 4WD cars to Damavand Camp 2 Gosfand Sara (mosque ,altitude3050 meters) for acclimatization. No climbing or hard exercises. Final preparation and equipment check. Overnight at Gosfand sara in sharing room , with your mat and sleeping bag.
Trekking by 4 to 6 hours slow trek to Damavand Camp 3 Bargah Sevom (4200 meters).
Ascend to the nearby heights. Return back to the third camp Bargah Sevom. No need to start early or go higher and make yourself exhausted , save your energy for summit day , allow plenty of rest after your hike . Going to bed early.
Start climbing at about 4 AM to the summit, (mostly arrive at summit after 5 to 8 hours). Return back to Camp 3 (usually arrive in the afternoon on the same day). Overnight in the shelter.
After breakfast, descend down to Camp 2, drive to Reyne (mostly arrive between 1 and 2 PM). After lunch and rest in the afternoon go to hot spring have a dinner in Abe Garm city nearby Reyne 5 kilometers. Return back to Tehran after dinner .
